It’s been another month of limbo at Chumbaria. The lack of mains water and electricity connection saga and being patient is taking its toll on both of us. My television debut in season 1 of the television series ‘Help We Bought a Village’, was me saying we’ve had no water for 10 days. Season 3 will end with me saying we’ve had no water for 10 weeks!!!. Restoring an abandoned village in Portugal has been a huge learning curve, but this one feels like a curve too far. We love Portugal and feel blessed to live here, but you need a lot of patience with some things! On a positive note we have our son Tom and good friend Tony staying, which means a lot of jobs will get done which always makes us happy. Best of all this week, we held our first Bonsai Workshop with the Bonsai Master Mark D’Cruz which was really fun and very informative.
We’ve had some lovely days out with our son Tom and friend Tony. In return they have worked really hard giving our house a makeover. We hosted our first ‘dinner event’ which was lots of work, but lots of fun and we had some amazing positive feedback. We also held our first pottery painting workshop, which was also lots of work, but lots of fun. We will definitely be holding more of both in the future. A big thank you to Daisy Eltenton Ceramics for her workshop and to all the lovely people that came to Chumbaria and joined in. We really enjoy having people here, it makes the village come alive. We ended May on a positive note, we have been featured in a lot of publicity by the Company that supplied our hempcrete blocks. We received the professional architectural photos of the houses. Most importantly after 9 long weeks, we got mains water! Now just waiting on the electric connection.
