What we collect and why
Booking and contact enquiries. When you use our contact form or email us, we receive the details you provide (name, email address, your message, and dates you are interested in). We use them only to reply to you and to arrange your stay. Legal basis: taking steps at your request before entering into a contract.
Availability updates (newsletter). If you sign up for seasonal availability and offers, we store your name and email address and use them to send you occasional emails about availability and discounts. Legal basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time by replying to any email or writing to stay@chumbaria.com, and we will delete your address.
Website analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, approximate location, device type). This only runs if you accept analytics cookies in the cookie banner. Legal basis: your consent. Data is processed by Google in accordance with Google’s terms.

Third-party services on this site
- Hosthub — the live availability calendars on our house pages are loaded from app.hosthub.com. Hosthub may set its own technical cookies inside the calendar frame.
- Google Fonts — the site’s typefaces are loaded from Google’s servers, which means your browser sends your IP address to Google when the page loads.
- GTranslate — if you use the language switcher, a cookie remembers your chosen language.
- Booking platforms — links to Airbnb and Booking.com lead to their websites, which have their own privacy policies.
How long we keep your data
Enquiry emails are kept for as long as needed to manage your booking and for a reasonable period afterwards for our records. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to our Google Analytics settings (14 months).
Who we share data with
We do not sell your data. It is shared only with the service providers named above, our email and hosting provider, and where required by law.
Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data, to withdraw consent, to object to processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email stay@chumbaria.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority — in Portugal, the CNPD (Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados, cnpd.pt).
